Living in New York City, as well as attending the Fashion Institute of Technology, has changed my perspective of New York Fashion Week. I am now informed of what collections come out at what day and at what time, I know which collections I expect to be good, and I know which shows are opening certain seats to the public (i.g. Rag & Bone and Givenchy). I used to dream of NYFW as this magical experience where celebrities grace you with your presence, and you see bloggers smoking on the corner of whatever and whatever. Now, I know that in the high fashion ladder, New York City does not hold the top spot when it comes to which fashion week city has the most coveted collections. Paris, Milan, and London come with greater intentions than NYC. Although my expectations were set slightly lower since attending fashion school in Manhattan, I was surprisingly delighted with certain looks from many of the collections. My favorite pieces so far are Rosie Assoulin’s cut out top, Givenchy’s scale dress and mask, and Givenchy’s bird feather dress. Without further adieu, my favorite looks from the September 10th, 11th, and 12th Spring 2016 collections.
